MORE ABOUT OUR

About The Manitowoc MLC650

The powerful, versatile crawler crane can tackle some of the most demanding commercial construction projects. With a lifting capacity of 650 tons, it’s engineered to handle both heavy and intricate lifting tasks, making it ideal for large-scale projects like commercial buildings, bridges, and industrial facilities. The crane’s Variable Position Counterweight system enables a significant increase in lifting capacity without compromising stability or safety. This allows the crane to work efficiently in confined spaces, offering exceptional performance in urban environments or congested job sites. The 650-ton crane can also be quickly and easily transported to different locations, with a modular structure that simplifies assembly and disassembly.

One of the standout features of the MLC650 is its impressive reach and lifting height, providing substantial flexibility in lifting operations. The crane’s lifting capacities can be fine-tuned with its wide range of boom configurations that allow it to adapt to specific project needs. Whether it’s erecting precast elements, lifting steel beams, or hoisting other heavy machines, the MLC650 delivers precise and reliable performance under our operation to execute challenging and precise lifts required for large, complex commercial construction projects.

Crane Rigging Childress TX IREN project

Operating a 650-ton crane requires a high level of expertise and technical skill. Consolidated Crane & Rigging are certified and well-versed with specific training on Manitowoc’s advanced systems, including its counterweight system, load-sensing technology, and variable boom configurations. Our experienced operators are able to assess site conditions and choose the correct setup for different lifting scenarios. Their knowledge and understanding of the machine’s stability limits and the precise control needed to execute delicate lifts ensures proper safety protocols are followed at all times.

Rigging heavy loads on the MLC650 is another specialized task that requires a thorough understanding of both load dynamics and the rigging equipment being used. Our rigging foremen and crew know how to precisely attach, balance, and secure loads to prevent shifting or instability during the lift. This involves selecting the right type of slings, hooks, spreader bars, and other rigging hardware based on the load’s weight, shape, and center of gravity. For a crane of this capacity, Consolidated Crane & Rigging can calculate the proper rigging angles and ensure that the load is evenly distributed to avoid overloading any part of the crane.

From rigging lifts to operating the machines, we understand the importance of communication and coordination between the project manager, other contractors, the crane operator and riggers is crucial to ensure that the lifting operation is smooth, safe, and efficient in every commercial construction project we support.
